What is Travel Linux?

Travel Linux is a small operating system that runs from a bootable CD. It allows you to use the Internet while on the road, while avoiding the dangers of Internet cafe computers that are often infected with spyware, viruses and trojans.

Why should you care about using someone else's computer?

Based on a study done by American Online and the National Cyber Security Alliance [PDF document], most computers are infected with spyware. These spyware programs are able to steal your personal information such as passwords, bank account information, and even credit card numbers.

Using TravelLinux from a CD-R means that you will always be using a fresh operating system that cannot be written to.

  1. Privacy and security — Since TravelLinux runs from a CD, and is using the GNU/Linux operating system (or Linux for short), you are not subjected to the common viruses and spyware that commonly infect most personal computers.
  2. Functionality — programs to edit your digital photos, post to you blog, surf the Web with Firefox, and check your online banking information.
  3. Productivity — photo editing, word processing, post to your blog.

There are already many kinds of Linux that will do this. Travel Linux is not going to be revolutionary. It is just going to be easy to use, and designed for people who have never used Linux before. It will have only the tools needed by travelers who want security but who don't want to spend a lot of time learning about computers.

Travel Linux is coming soon.
